Technology is the use of tools and methods, the study, development, and use of devices and machines. Every manmade object around us is technology. Technology significantly affects humans as well as other animal species' ability to control and adapt to their environments. The human species' used technology to convert natural resources into simple tools that made our everyday lives easier. The discovery of the ability to control fire increased the available sources of food and the invention of the wheel helped humans with travelling. The telephone and the Internet have made communication easier and allowed humans to interact freely on a global scale. However, not all technology has been used for peaceful purposes; the development of weapons of increasing destructive power has progressed throughout history, from clubs to nuclear weapons. Not only does the destructive power harm humans, but the environment too. Thankfully there is also technology that helps the environment, for example;
Technology is important because it makes our lives easier, no matter how simple or ordinary. An example of this is the road: without the road we would have trouble travelling around land, yet we take it for granted and hardly think it technology. Mostly everything we use is inventions that we simply take for granted, without thinking how they came to be how they are today.
Technology also helps us learn more about the world around us; microscopes let us see beyond the capacity of the naked human eye, satellites and video cameras let us watch the news on television, so we can be informed about other countries and space shuttles allow us to see beyond of the earth’s atmosphere. In fact without technology we would probably still think planet earth was flat.
